At the very least 35 individuals have been injured in sporadic clashes between putting readymade garment staff and police in several areas of Savar, Gazipur and the capital on Thursday, stories UNB.
The employees began staging demonstrations for the fifth consecutive day on Thursday in Ashulia of Savar, Bhogra Bypass and Mogorkhal areas in Gazipur and Mirpur of Dhaka demanding cancellation of the ‘discriminatory’ wage board introduced by the federal government for them.
In Savar, no less than 30 garment staff have been injured in a conflict with police in Jamgarah space of Ashulia within the morning.
Witnesses stated staff from totally different garment factories took to the streets within the morning in Jamgarah Choytala and have been staging demonstrations since then.
When police tried to disperse them, the employees threw brickbats at them. A chase and counter-chase passed off between the employees and police, leaving 30 individuals injured.
Apart from, a tense scenario was prevailing within the space following the incident. Various RMG factories have been declared laid off for Thursday to fend off troubles.
BGB groups have been seen patrolling within the space to stop any untoward incident.
In Gazipur, a whole bunch of staff of various garment factories began demonstrating within the morning.
At one stage, the employees tried to dam Dhaka Bypass street, however police dispersed them by charging baton.
A chase and counter-chase passed off amongst them, leaving no less than 5 individuals injured.
In the meantime, the authorities of no less than 30 garment factories have saved their manufacturing suspended since Wednesday following the unrest.
In Dhaka, the employees of a number of garment factories began staging demonstrations at Mirpur-10 intersection, Shewrapara, Kazipara and Agargaon areas after placing barricades on the busiest Rokeya Sarani street halting site visitors.
